About Us.

Keep it odd. Keep it unpredictable. Keep it coming.
Marnie Mahannah

Marnie Mahannah is an actor, writer, and director.

When she moved from Kelowna to Vancouver to pursue acting, Marnie almost immediately found herself on set—behind the scenes. Those years working as a crew member led her to pick up a thing or two, albeit in the beginning those things were literal pieces of trash. She butt-swept her way through big budget shows such as Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Elysium, and Age of Adaline (to name a few) as a production assistant, gaining vital firsthand knowledge in the process.

By the time she decided to return her focus to her acting career, Marnie had a plethora of experience behind the scenes and a network of savvy film folk. Years of training with professional coaches in the city helped hone her acting craft and garnered her several bookings on indie films and roles on networks like ABC and Lifetime. Still, Marnie was not satisfied leaving her career at the whims of a volatile film industry. So, she made her own work.

In 2018 Marnie wrote, produced, directed, and acted in her first film. The relationships fostered with professional filmmakers during those long days on set as crew proved fundamental to its success, as were the countless hours of scene study and character building. This conquest ignited in Marnie a new fervor to continue creating her own work. Now, she’s utilizing that momentum to assist fellow actors in “getting in the room.”

MATT SAWATZKY

Innovative filmmaker with a comprehensive background in travel videography, offering over 13 years of experience in all aspects of video production.*

*Totally not a pretentious self-description.

Upon graduating from film school at Simon Fraser University, and after slugging it out in Reality TV (or simply “TV,” as it's now known) for several years, Matt combined his previous experience as a tour guide in Thailand with his new-fangled filmmaking skillset and went to work for his good friends at Free & Easy Traveler as their resident videographer.

That role took him from South East Asia to South America from 2008 to 2014. When he returned to Canada as a member of their social media team, Matt also returned to his original objective: writing, directing, and producing narratives.

Over the last five years, Matt has gained extensive experience in film production and post-production through working on a variety of commercials, music videos, and independent film and television projects. His diverse roles both on-set and in post-production have provided Matt with dynamic film capabilities and, just like Liam Neeson in Taken, he is always looking to expand and apply his very particular set of skills.

OddDOCTRINE is the anomalous perspective to storytelling, which, to Matt, means telling compelling and original stories. Otherwise, it's back to nude modelling in community college evening art classes.
